Fundraising Campaign Extension to June 28th!
Today is Friday the 13th and it’s a full moon! When we launched the Indiegogo fundraising campaign for the documentary film production, we picked today as an end date. Why? Because it’s Friday the 13th and a full moon!
Needless to say, we also did not anticipate the attention we would need to divert to tackling challenges on-location in Mexico during this same time period. Some knowledge can only be gained during actual on-location experience, and in that regard the past few months have been a great success.
• One has to do with the fact that the daily temperatures are literally too hot for the camera batteries to hold charge and indeed the camera simply working was not feasible…very bad for filming!
• The other is that, even with minimal gear, the equipment necessary for the expeditionary documentary is too heavy for the single-hull outrigger. This is especially true given the potential sea conditions of the Sea of Cortez. Since our objective is to document, rather than arrive at Point Z in an outrigger canoe, we have elected to build a second canoe hull. When we return to the Sea of Cortez in autumn, Wilber will be transformed into a traditional double-canoe (catamaran). (article: Design Description)
(Note for contributors: Funds raised during this campaign remain exclusively allocated to the campaign and budget set forth.)
Due to dealing with the above challenges, we have been unable to promote the campaign as much as we anticipated. Now that we have made the decision to delay the expedition, it means we have time to make the project even better. We have petitioned to Indiegogo to extend our campaign, and they have accepted.
So… we will continue to work hard, and if you haven’t already gotten involved, here’s your opportunity!
You now have until the 28th of June to join in on Indiegogo and help the film project excel!
